Graham Elliot Weight Loss Journey
American celebrity chef Graham Eliot has won many awards and critical acclaim for his cuisine, appearing on Iron Chef, Master Chef, Top Chef Masters and opening his own French restaurant of the same name.
But despite a successful and lucrative career, due to its 400lbs size, the TV chef was in danger of serious health problems and even early death.
Graham was the ideal candidate for a duodenal transfer, which reduces the consumption of food in patients with a BMI of over 50.
Instead, Graham was fitted with a gastric sleeve, significantly decreasing his stomach size and shaping while still allowing him to absorb and digest food.
Graham lost a whopping 150lbs in less than a year, almost a third of his former total body weight.
Once in extremely poor health and sleep with a sleep apnea system, Graham now has a significantly lowered blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
But Graham’s challenge was to sustain his jaw-dropping weight loss and shift his outlook on food as a whole.
“I’m now looking at food as fuel and concentrating on my protein intake. I’m in love with ‘real’ flavours, products that are natural and tasty, minimally fussed with, highlighting the season. I’m mixing it with portion control,” he told the Mail Online.

Is Graham Elliot Leaving ‘MasterChef’ Franchise?
Since its launch back in 2010, Graham Elliot has been a judge on Fox’s MasterChef, but today the Chef announced that he is out. The cooking competition season 6 wrapped up in September, and was renewed for a seventh in July. At the time Fox said all three judges from the show would be returning.
“Being part of the MasterChef family has been an amazing experience,” said Elliot, who had also been a judge on the spinoff show MasterChef Junior since it was released in 2013. “I learned so much from the people I worked with and it was a real pleasure to share my love of cooking with the audiences who allowed me to come to their homes in the last six years.”
Chef Elliot quit the series in 2016 after 10 seasons with the franchise MasterChef & MasterChef Jr. to join Bravo’s Emmy Award winning hit cooking contests, Top Chef as a full-time judge alongside Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi and Gail Simmons.
And Graham joins restaurateur and best-selling cookbook writer Ayesha Curry and “Iron Chef” Cat Cora on ABC’s Family Food Battle beginning in Summer 2019. Eight families around the country share a shared kitchen, bringing out their best culinary moves in the kitchen, serving real family food and intrigue in search of America’s No. 1 Food Family title.
A lifelong vision of operating in Santa Monica California, Elliot has collaborated with leading dining group K2 Restaurants to carry out his first casual takeaway on the west coast called Petit Harvest offering more vegetable-focused fare like market vegetable hummus, a Beyond burger, tons of salads and more.
Petite Harvest is expected to begin in the mid-late summer of 2019. Elliot continues its first restaurant project in Asia, Coast at MGM Cotai, since February 2018.
Graham chose in 2013 to change his life and concentrate on his health and family, and has lost an impressive 150 pounds to date (starting at 400 and now down to 250 pounds). He has been running a marathon ever since and has tried to keep the weight off so he can spend more quality time with his family and friends.

Nonetheless, because the surgery could interfere with his ability to process dietary fats, the celebrity chef wasn’t the best choice.
‘Multiple small degustationis key to the research of Elliot,’ Dr Prachand told the magazine Imagine of the University of Chicago Medicine.
Graham Elliot Undergoes Weight Loss Surgery
Rather than joining the challenge winners from last week’s series, he’ll be recovering from major weight loss surgery. The 6’2′′ celebrated chef, 36, suffered a sleeve gastrectomy this Tuesday morning after almost reaching 400 pounds.
“Weight is something that I have been struggling for my entire life,” says Elliot, who talked to PEOPLE just days before the laparoscopic operation. “It’s hard to get in and out of a car, tie my shoe or play with my kids,” adds the father of three children, Mylo, 6, Conrad, 21⁄2 and 10-month-old Jedediah.
